I have no words right now, upon just hearing the news of Pastor Ray's passing. I'm devastated. Joshua, my son is gonna be sad. He asks about Pastor Ray all the time. What I can muster the courage to say at this moment is, I am still here because of God's loving spirit on earth in the human form of Pastor Ray and Helen. I am grateful for the love he and Helen bestowed upon me and my son, during a crucial time in my life when I surely had lost all hope in church, people, and my faith. My best friend Nicole Rainey and I to this day, can never talk about the book of Corinthians without remembering the sermons Pastor preached on them. Not to mention, I was just talking about him last week Saturday to a friend; remembering some encouraging words Pastor Ray had given me a long time ago, during a marriage counseling session. I didn't get married, but his wisdom is still relevant today. Wow! I have missed him since he left and I've missed Coral Gables Baptist Church. To Helen and his beautiful Daughter Katherine, hugs and kisses to you both. Pastor Ray was a good man. He will forever be in our hearts. xoxo ~Tomeka Napper
I will miss Ray dearly; but the memories of his humility and love for his ministry will remain alive in the hearts of those of us who have been touched by his work. Ray had a genuine concern for us as individuals: He brought healing to us in his Bible studies, his divorce care ministry and his music. He became my example of what a Christian should aspire to be.
