PRITAMDAS DASWANI's Obituary
Pritam Daswani, a dear husband, a doting father and grandfather, and loving uncle, brother, and
friend to many, passed away on Tuesday, February 7th, 2023 at 2:00 pm.
Today, we are honoring our beloved Pritam and his celebrated life that he loved and lived to the
fullest, always with a humble, loving smile. From his teenage years, due to his father’s
unexpected demise, he took the helm and moved to South Vietnam working to support his
mother and siblings. He lived there for over 20 years, and after getting married, lived in Hong
Kong and India. During the last 40 years of his life, he lived in Miami with his wife (of 56 yrs),
Neeta, and family. No matter where Pritam lived, his morals and values were his compass and
he was acknowledged for his disciplined and impeccable work ethic. Pritam worked hard and
took complete care of his family and extended family through a self-owned electronics business,
but he did more than that. Until the very end, he embodied a spirit of positivity, and spread
goodness, laughter and love with every person he met and knew. He was known to share jokes,
show magic tricks, play board games, and most of all, he loved spending time with and playing
with his grandsons, especially carrom! Anyone who knew Pritam, remembered him always
smiling, laughing, and bringing joy to others.
He also dedicated his life to the community, served as President of the South Florida Sindhi
Association, and for years thereafter, continued as a trustee, building unity amongst the
members and always had his doors open for anyone who needed guidance. Albeit a person
who is a true foodie in heart and spirit, Pritam also took good care of himself by controlling his
diet, walking daily, and he loved playing tennis with his kids when they were young. Even during
his last years, Pritam awed everyone around him with his youthful energy and spirit.
A turning point in Pritam’s life was in the early 80’s, when he found his spiritual teacher and
master, Sri Sathya Sai Baba. While Pritam loved life, he loved God most. From then onward, he
spent years reading and learning more about spirituality, fervently singing devotional songs, and
dedicated his life to service through the Sathya Sai Center of South Miami. He also served in
many roles, including that of a Service and Devotional Coordinator, Center President, and
Regional President. He was a leader at the Center, and a mentor to adults and youth alike, and
is the reason for many of the new initiatives and community service projects that started
decades ago and still exist today.
Sri Sathya Sai Baba says, “Death is not a deplorable event; it is the journey's end. It is a
consummation, a happy conclusion.”
Pritam’s life has indeed been a happy culmination of his experiences, and though content, he
never stopped looking for the next opportunity to serve, and never stopped smiling and
spreading happiness.
As we bid farewell to him, we are thankful to have known him, been a part of his life’s journey,
and will remember his life as our lessons, and always keep him in our hearts.
We pray to God for his departed soul to rest in eternal peace and to be one with Him.
