Pravin Ghai's Obituary
Pravin Ghai, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, departed this life on Sunday, June 26, 2022. She was born in New Delhi, India, and passed on her love of that country’s culture and heritage to her family. Together with her husband Gauri, she emigrated to the United States in 1967, first settling in Ames, Iowa. In 1974, they moved to Miami, Florida which became their permanent residence.
Pravin enjoyed a long and illustrious career with IBM as a software engineer. She was a true pioneer for women in the field. After retiring, Pravin focused on her growing family, spending time with her cherished grandchildren and cooking elaborate Indian meals for everyone to enjoy. Pravin also gave generously of her time and resources, volunteering on phone banks and going door to door in support of social justice causes dear to her heart.
Pravin was preceded in death by her parents, Sushila Sethi and Amar Nath Malik; her brother, Nalin Malik, and sister-in-law Narain Malik. She will be dearly missed by Dr. Gauri Ghai, her husband of 58 years; sons Vivek (spouse Lisa), Rakesh and Ashish (spouse Leya); and grandchildren Andrew (spouse Sydney), Lucas, Rajesh, Desmond, and Sushila. Pravin is also survived by a brother, Mr. Arvind Malik, a sister, Prathiba Kapoor, niece Ruchika, and nephews Neeraj, Rajiv and Ashish.
A visitation to honor Pravin will be held at Van Orsdel Kendall (Miami, FL) on Saturday, July 2nd from 11:30 am to 2:30 pm.
