PETER GENNA's Obituary
PETER GENNA passed away on Wednesday, September 26, 2012 due to complications from pneumonia. He was born in Brooklyn, NY on September 20, 1923 to Gaspare and Ninfa. He spent his young adult life traveling the country, exploring every occupation from cowboy to tailor, including serving the Merchant Marines. He met and married the love of his life, Martha Romeo, and together they spent 64 wonderful years. He worked for National Airlines as an aircraft inspector and moved his family down to Miami in 1958. He also spent time working for Aerodex, supervising the warehouses and then later for FIU as a landscaper, not to mention that he was also an award-winning crossing guard for Kendale Elementary. Peter was a lover of books, gardening, cooking, and story-telling. He is survived by his wife, Martha, his 2 children, Eve and Gerard, and his 6 grandchildren, Anne, Anthony, Christine, Joseph, Nicholas, and Robert. He is also survived by his brother Tony and sisters Grace and Lena along with many nieces and nephews.
The viewing will be on Sunday, September 30th, from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Van Orsdel Kendall Chapel (11220 N. Kendall Drive, Miami, FL). A holy mass will be celebrated on Monday, October 1st at 11:00 a.m. in Saint Catherine of Siena Catholic Church (9200 SW 107th Ave., Miami, FL).
