PETER CELIN's Obituary
It is with great sadness that the family of Peter (Pedro) Celin announces his passing after complications from surgery, on Tuesday, July 21, 2020, at the age of 66 years.
Born in Bogota, Colombia on October 23, 1953, Pedro would eventually move to the US with his family and settle in Miami, FL. He graduated from Miami Springs High School. After graduating, he met the love of his life (Sylvia Bellamy) at a Colombian “discotheque”, where it was love at first sight. From that moment, they would be together for 45 years. During this time they raised two daughters, became grandparents, and shared their home and love with several fur-babies.
An entrepreneur at heart, Peter pursued several careers throughout his lifetime. His first endeavor was in the pawn-shop industry for two decades. During this time, he and his cousin owned and operated their own business. He eventually stepped away from the business and made the decision to own and operate his own semi-truck, delivering products across the United States. This allowed him the opportunity to explore the US. After driving for several years, he took the opportunity to work for Homeland Security, where he would retire working as a Homeland Security Maintenance worker at Miami International Airport.
A lover of several hobbies, which included surprising Sylvia and coming home one day with a Harley Davidson motorcycle, pierced ear and tattoo (this was quite the shock to Sylvia). He owned boats at one time because of his love for the ocean, he enjoyed fishing and taught his daughters and grandchildren. He rebuilt a 67' Mustang as a gift for his daughter. Peter loved animals – he always had a dog companion and made them part of the family. He found joy in playing golf with his friends and shared this with his daughter. In his later years, he became ruler of the kitchen and taught himself how to cook. He became so good at it, he would give Rachel Rae a run for her money! Friends and family knew Peter for his infectious smile, playful personality, and generous disposition. His memory will be imprinted in the minds and hearts of all who met him.
Peter, a loving, caring, and supportive husband, brother, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his wife, Sylvia, children Jennifer (Victor) and Nicole, four grandchildren Vanessa, Jasmine, Isaiah, and Ethan, and his fur-babies Milo and Betsy.
There will be a viewing for Peter on Monday, July 26, 2020 at Van Orsdel in Kendall. A memorial mass will be held for Peter at St. Agatha Church date TBD. Interment will follow to Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Cemetery. Thank you again for joining us in celebrating his life and keeping his great memory alive.
