PERIHAN INES BALAREZO's Obituary
On Wednesday, July 29th, 2020, Perihan Ines Balarezo, loving daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, godmother, and friend passed away at the age of 59. Peri was born on June 11, 1961 in New York City, NY to Carlos Balarezo and Ilhan Akcar.
Peri grew up in New York City and Lima, Peru. She moved back to the United States in her early teens. Her mother was a nurse and Peri followed in her footsteps, compassionately providing care for any ill or ailing family members when needed.
Peri loved to dance, especially the Peruvian Marinera. As a young girl she learned the Tahitian Dance while visiting her aunt and uncle in Tahiti. She also learned to play piano and enjoyed listening to music. Peri was bilingual and had an amazing talent for memorizing dates. She would enthusiastically remind you of upcoming birthdays at every chance. Peri was most known for her beautiful smile and loving nature. As one dear friend said, “she sprinkled nothing but love and joy into the world.”
Peri was preceded in death by her father, Carlos, and mother, Ilhan. She is survived by her siblings, Juan, Miskicha, and Claudine, stepmother Annick, Aunt Teresa, and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
A private memorial service will be held next year.
