PEGGY P GIOURGAS's Obituary
GIOURGAS, Kalliopie “Peggy”,
Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister - passed away on
Wednesday, August 5, 2015, surrounded by her family.
Peggy was born June 7, 1932 in Sabraton, West Virginia to
Sophia and George Papandreas. Peggy will be remembered with love by her husband George of 59 years, her children Kathie (Ken Sitton), Socrates (Lisa Giourgas), and George Giourgas, Jr. (Jade Giourgas). Her brother, John (Mary Papandreas). Additionally, six grandchildren and countless cousins and friends, whose lives were enriched by her love for family. Peggy was a member of the Greek Orthodox Ladies Philoptochos Society and very active in the Greek Orthodox Church for many years. She had many interests, among them were a deep love for music, going to the beach, boating, traveling, Greek cooking and watching her grandchildren play. In addition to being a devoted mother, Peggy supported her husband by working in the family concession business. The dedication she had for her husband was indescribable, even in her weakness she modeled unconditional and selfless love for her husband. Her spirit will live on in the lives of those she touched. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, August 10, 2015 at 11am. at St. Sophia Greek Orthodox Church in Miami, Florida. Graveside service at Woodlawn Cemetery (North) and reception at Bank United Center to follow.
