OTIS MILTON CHAMBERS's Obituary
Otis Milton Chambers passed away unexpectedly on November 9, 2015, at Baptist Hospital in Miami, FL, at age 60. He was born November 27, 1954 in Champaign, IL. His parents are the late Otis and Carney Mae Chambers of Redwood City, CA. He is survived by his wife, Kay Ferdinand Chambers of Miami, FL, and one son, Christopher Otis Chambers of Gainesville, FL. He is also survived by one sister, Melissa Chambers of Hayward, CA, and two brothers: Joe Mason and wife Mary of Canton, MI and Cleveland Mason and wife Denise of Atwater, CA. Otis is survived by many aunts and uncles and also by three nieces, four nephews, one great nephew, and three great nieces. Otis graduated from high school in Champaign, IL in 1972 with a clear goal of becoming a police officer. He studied law enforcement at Parkland College and graduated in 1974. His dream was to join a large police department in a major city and so he applied for a position with the Metro-Dade Police Department in Miami, FL and was hired in 1975. Through the course of his career, Otis worked in several investigation units and in uniform. Otis felt very honored to have served his community and the Miami-Dade Police Department for 35 years. With great pride, he retired in February of 2010. He spent his retirement years enjoying his hobbies and playing his bass guitar. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Retired Police Officers Love Fund, Retired Police Officers Council, PO Box 570790, Miami, FL 33257-0790. Visitation 7 – 9pm Friday (tonight) and Service 11 am Saturday at VAN ORSDEL KENDALL CHAPEL. Burial Woodlawn Park South.
