It is with the deepest sorrow that we announce the passing of Omar Gonzalez, born on June 18, 1950, in Santa Clara, Cuba. Omar departed from this world on Tuesday, March 19th, 2024, after bravely battling cancer.
Omar was a remarkable individual, cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him. He held many roles in life: a devoted father, a caring brother, a dedicated son, a beloved husband, and a loyal friend. His presence brought warmth, laughter, and joy to those around him, leaving an indelible mark on their hearts.
A man of unwavering determination and integrity, Omar was known for his strong work ethic and his willingness to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He approached life with kindness and generosity.
Omar was never one to stay idle, always eager to explore new ventures. While residing in New Jersey, he dabbled in various pursuits, from owning a restaurant and a boxing gym to indulging in his passion for racing cars. Despite his success as a carpet installer for many years, in 1985, he made a bold move to Miami to establish his own flooring company, Master Carpets. Embracing the South Florida lifestyle, he ventured into boat racing, relishing weekends in the Keys with loved ones. His love for automobiles extended beyond a hobby, as he eventually opened a car dealership. He was an avid collector of cars and possessed an expert knowledge of all things automotive.
Omar was never one to be still, and was always trying something new. While living in New Jersey, he owned a restaurant and a boxing gym and took interest in racing cars. After being a successful carpet installer for many years, he moved to Miami in 1985 to open his own flooring company, Master Carpets. He began to race boats, and loved spending his weekends in the Keys with his family and friend out on the water.
Omar's most enduring legacy lies in the love and devotion he showed to his family and friends. He was a pillar of strength and support, always there to offer guidance, conversation, encouragement, and a comforting presence to those in his inner circle.
Omar Gonzalez leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and compassion that will endure for generations to come. He is survived by his wife of many years, his two daughters, his three grandchildren, his father, and younger brother. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten. May we find solace in the memories we shared with him and take comfort in knowing that he is now at peace, watching over us from above.
