OFELIA CHUYN CHAEL's Obituary
OFELIA CHUYN CHAEL, 75, of Miami, passed away Monday, June 26, 2017. She was born August 28, 1941 in Havana, Cuba to the late Filiberto and Ofelia Chuyn. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Raul Chael.
Ofelia was an alumna of the American Dominican school in Havana. She married Raul in 1962, and after two years in Spain, the family came to the United States in 1970.
She was an avid cook and crafter. Her thriftiness allowed the family to save enough money to put her two daughters through college. Ofelia was proud that they could achieve a level of education not afforded to her and she was deeply pleased with her role in making them secure and independent women.
Ofelia will be remembered for her jovial spirit, her generosity for others and the homemade goodies she enjoyed sharing with friends and family at Christmastime.
Those left to cherish Ofelia’s memory include her daughters Mari and Patty Chael, sons-in-law Victor Dover and Francisco Zeledon, grandchildren Thomas, Theresa Lee, Nicholas and Christina.
The family will receive friends from 5:30pm-8:30pm, Thursday, June 29, 2017 in the chapel at Van Orsdel Funeral Home, 4600 SW 8th Street, Coral Gables, FL 33134. A brief wake service will begin there at 8:00pm.
A celebration of Ofelia’s life will be held at 1:00 pm, Friday, June 30, 2017 in the chapel at Van Orsdel Funeral Home, 4600 SW 8th Street, Coral Gables, FL 33134. Immediately following the service, Ofelia will be laid to rest at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Cemetery, 11411 NW 25th St, Doral, FL 33172.
In lieu of flowers, gifts in her memory may be made to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
