He was a pillar of streangth and virtue born into a successful entrepreneurial family in the Midwest Detroit,Michigan it was the Sewell Avery Montgomery ward and department stores family on his mother Mary's side who was of Irish Scotch Canadian origin and his father grant was a successful real estate developer he was born into a time of wealth and grandeur back in the 1920s only to survive the stock market crash and Great Depression of 29 he was a student at the university of Miami and Columbia university in New York he graduated from um juris doctorate with honors he became a defense trial attorney and had a great record he became a hospital owner and real estate developer and entrepreneur he was always there to help people be it an encouraging word or two he was a great orator he helped hundreds of people with his community at Palm Springs general hospital in Hialeah Florida with his trust for education for a scholarship fund that he created he gave everyday to charity in write offs he married Ann love who was his first wife and he married Patricia Mary smith former national airlines flight hostess now deceased they are survived by their four children Oakley Jason Vanessa ley Campbell Avery and Nicholas tanksley he maintained residences in Florida and Mexico he is greatly missed there will never be another person like him with his gifts his generosity of spirit and streangth he is in our daily thoughts and prayers
