Nury Moreno Espinel
December 24, 1945 – December 28, 2024
Nury Moreno Espinel, passed away surrounded by loved ones on December 28, 2024, after a lengthy and courageous battle with pulmonary fibrosis, first diagnosed in 2006. A gift to the world, Nury was born on December 24, 1945, in Bogota, Colombia. She was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, madrina, friend, and grandmother, who brought laughter to everyone who crossed her path.
Nury's smile, work ethic, and wit earned her a reputation for her diligence, eagerness to help others, and to bring joy in her workplace, be it at The Colombian Center in New York, the State of Indiana in Bogota, Colegio Karl C. Parrish in Barranquilla, or Kimre, Inc. in Miami, from where she retired at the age of 65.
She is survived by her love and husband of 57 years, Ciro; their three children, Juan Carlos, Camilo (Bill Kitchen), and Monica (Simon Letort); her sister Pia Melo (Carlos); and two cherished grandchildren, Paloma and Gabriel, who will honor her memory and uphold the values she instilled in them.
A celebration of Nury’s life will be held on January 12, 2025:
• in person from 10am to 1pm at the Van Orsdel Funeral Home
