Noreen Katharine (McGraw) December 29, 1928 – June 1, 2014
Sadly Noreen was called to join her son Daniel Edward Manella, sister Joan (McGraw) Crooks and brother Russell J. McGraw in eternal rest on Sunday, June 1, 2014.
Noreen was born in Brooklyn, NY the daughter of Russell Jefferies McGraw, Sr., MD and Alice Elizabeth Collins; long time Coral Gables, FL residents.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years Francis L. Manella. She was a loving and vivacious mother to Kathleen Manella, Mary Alice Manella/Mathison,
Nell (Manella) Patten, Noreen (Manella) Bezold, Patricia Manella -Wells, Frances Manella, Frank R. Manella and Daniel E. Manella
She remains a special Nonnie Nini to grandchildren Eric Bulgarelli, Madeleine Bezold,
Emily Bezold, Matthew Manella and Danielle Manella.
Noreen graduated high school from Le Sechone du L’Academie in New York. She was a long time resident of Coral Gables, FL. She studied theatre and drama at the University of Miami and performed many times in the Ring Theatre.
Noreen spent her life entertaining those who became her audience. She was active in community theatre in Florida, Ohio and Illinois. In Champaign, IL she played the main character, Lola Delaney in “Come Back Little Sheba”; she captured the hearts of all those in attendance.
Her later years were occupied by many meetings of the Red Hats Club at East Ridge Retirement Village.
Always “dressed to the nine’s” she would make an unforgettable entrance wherever she went. Her signature hat would always cap off her ensemble.
She will be missed dearly by her many nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Visitation will be on Friday, June 6, 2014 from 5:00pm-8:00pm at Van Orsdel Funeral Chapel – Kendall.
A funeral mass will take place on Saturday, June 7, 2014, at 11:00am at Holy Rosary-St. Richard Catholic Church, 7500 S.W. 152 Street, Palmetto Bay, FL 33157.
Interment will follow at Woodlawn Park Cemetery South, 11655 S.W. 117 Avenue, Miami, FL 33186.
