Nina Bodden's Obituary
Our Beautiful Nina
Mrs. Nina E. Bodden (nee Criscione), of Cutler Bay, FL was called into the service of her Lord and Savior in the early morning hours of Wednesday, February 14, 2018.
Nina was born in Cleveland, OH to John and Leona Criscione. The family relocated to Long Island, NY, where Nina graduated from Uniondale High School in 1961. Growing tired of the long New York winters, she relocated to Miami, FL in the early 1960s, where she met Rayal Bodden at a Catholic Singles’ Dance in 1967. The couple married on April 20, 1968, and would spend the next 49 years together, welcoming three children into their loving home.
Her proudest role was as a loving Mom and Nana, but Nina also dedicated herself to her chosen profession, as a school lunch program manager, for over 25 years; first at Cutler Ridge Christian Academy, then at Westminster Christian School. She loved nothing more than keeping all of the children fed and happy, continuing in the Lord’s service each and every day.
Nina was an accomplished baker and chef, constantly creating delicious dishes and treats for everyone she met – family, friends, neighbors, and strangers….nobody ever left her presence without something delicious to eat. Giving of herself through her wonderful food was the purest expression of her unselfish and pure love. Her family will continue her traditions, utilizing the extensive library of recipes she left behind.
Nina is survived by her loving husband, Rayal Bodden of Cutler Bay, FL; her daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Bill Dawson of Winter Haven, FL; her son and daughter-in-law, Dale and Vivian Bodden of Union, KY; and her daughter, Sharon Bodden of Cutler Bay, FL. She is also survived by her precious grandchildren, Bethany, Brooke, and Brianna Dawson, of Winter Haven, FL; and Dylan and Kyle Bodden, of Union, KY. She was received in Heaven by her parents and her sister, Barbara Ratto.
A memorial service and celebration of her life will be held on Sunday, March 4, 2018, from 1 – 4 pm at the Van Orsdel Chapel located at 11220 N Kendall Drive Miami, FL 33176. The family expresses their sincerest gratitude for the outpouring of condolences and love for Nina’s beautiful life. Donations may be made in her honor to the American Diabetes Association.
