NELLIE JO CREEL's Obituary
Nellie Jo Morton Creel, widow of Joel Creel a longtime Miami attorney, died peacefully on December 15. A resident of Miami for the past 70 years, Nellie Jo was originally from Alabama. She attended Montevallo Women’s College. After she married and moved to Coral Gables, she served as a volunteer in various organizations: The Museum of Science as a docent, the Junior Women’s Club, the PTA and the First Methodist Church of Coral Gables, where she needlepointed the kneeling pillows, sang in the choir and played a major role in the Altar Guild. She and her husband traveled extensively throughout the world. She loved playing bridge, cooking gourmet meals, golfing, gardening and reading. She will be greatly missed by her family. Just shy of 104 years old, she outlived most of her friends. She is survived by her daughter, Sallie Quillian (Dr. Warren W.) and son, Dr. Joe Morton Creel (Beverly), eight grandchildren: Rutledge Hutson, Dr. Ruth Wolever, Dr. Warren C. Quillian, Dr. Frances Thorndike, Dan Creel, Scott Creel, Brian Creel, Andy Creel and seven great grandchildren. The family is planning a private service.
