Beatriz and their daughter Charlsey, Alexander and his wife Lori and their children: Jonathan and his wife Noemi, and Vanessa with her husband Michael and their children: Lucy and Isla.
She is predeceased by her beloved father, George Chukrallah Habib, with whom she is now reunited in God’s Heavenly Kingdom. Her passing was followed by her beloved aunt Latife Zyne on Sunday, June 16, 2024.
Born in Miami, Florida on August 12th, 1971, to Lebanese parents George and Tabte Habib, Mona was curious, goal-oriented, and driven. She graduated from Riviera High School and later attended the adult day program at A.D. Barnes Park. There, she made many friends and created countless happy memories while bowling, going to the movies, sailing, attending baseball games, and participating in other fun activities around Miami.
Mona was a blessing from the moment she arrived; many said that a princess had departed the Kingdom of Heaven, and indeed, she was nothing less than a princess among those who knew her. Her family went to great lengths to give her the attention, support, and love she so richly deserved. In return, she gave them a lifetime of joy and adoration with her infectious smile, melodious laughter, and determination to spread joy and light into every life she touched.
Mona’s loves included spending time with her close-knit family, taking long car rides and vacation road trips, petting animals, and cuddling anything soft and cozy. Her favorite foods included warak enab (stuffed grape leaves), pita bread and laban; she also enjoyed snacking on peanut butter and Cheerios. She had a playful spirit. The quickest way to make Mona laugh was to witness something unexpectedly funny, whether it was someone dropping something with a big crash or a silly puppy stealing a sandwich out of her sister’s hand; never was there a bigger fan of slapstick comedy and playful mayhem. Her family frequently delighted her by feigning injury or throwing soft balls at one another’s head. She loved to listen to her father’s stories and songs of their homeland in Abadiyeh and Bhamdoun in Lebanon and he would amuse her by wearing his tarboosh while doing so.
It is with greatest sorrow that Mona now departs her Earthly home to return to her station as a princess in her true home. Her gentle soul, filled with love and laughter, leaves behind a legacy of joy and compassion. Mona touched the lives of everyone she met with her warm heart and infectious spirit, reminding us all of the beauty and grace of a life well-lived. Though she will be deeply missed, her memory will forever remain a beacon of light and love in our hearts.
Mona will be honored at Saint George Antiochian Orthodox Cathedral in Coral Gables, FL, on Wednesday, June 19th, 2024, for funeral services at 7:00 PM. Her burial will follow at Woodlawn South Cemetery in Kendall, FL, on Thursday, June 20th, 2024, at 12:00 PM.
The Habib family would like to express their gratitude for the outpouring of love and support from the entire community during this difficult time.
