Mildred Heins Rogers' Obituary
ROGERS
Mildred Heins, 99, a long-time resident of Coral Gables, passed away Thursday, July 7, 2011. She was born April 9, 1912 to Dr. Oscar E. and Grace Brown Heins in Maysville, Missouri. There she experienced the delights of small- town life and grew up surrounded by the love of her extended family. In a small United Methodist Church there, she found her faith in God which would sustain her the rest of her life. She graduated from Maysville High School in 1930, and rose to become Assistant Postmaster in Maysville. In 1950, she married Herbert Standly Rogers and shared 55 years of married happiness until his death in 2005. The young couple moved to Kansas City, MO, where their only child, Suzanne Lynn Rogers, was born in 1953. In 1967, the family moved to Coral Gables, FL. Throughout her 99 years, Mildred loved her family, her friends, and her God. She delighted in the company of dogs and in the joy of gardening. The surviving beneficiaries of her love are her daughter, Suzanne, her nieces and cousins, and her many friends. The celebration of her life will be at 4:00 p.m. in the Sanctuary of the First United Methodist Church of Coral Gables on Friday, July 15, 2011. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Building Endowment Fund or the Music Fund at the First United Methodist Church of Coral Gables, 536 Coral Way, Coral Gables, FL 33134.
