Milagros Morales Rouco's Obituary
Milagros de la Caridad Morales Rouco, affectionately known as Milly, was born on January 24, 1932, in Havana, Cuba, the cherished daughter of Arnaldo Morales Soley, a CMQ journalist and broadcaster, and Caridad Cuervo Corrales. Milly had an extraordinary life. A graduate of Candler College and the University of Havana, Milly left her beloved Cuba and settled in Miami, Florida, in the late 1940's after her father's sudden passing. She purchased a home and became a guiding light for her family, who, with her help, were able to join her in the years that followed. An accomplished accountant, Milly dedicated her talents to Florida Power & Light Company, WSVN Channel 7, and The Miami Herald Publishing Company before retiring to lovingly care for her aging mother. She was preceded in death by her loving parents and her devoted husband Gustavo Rouco y Jorda.
Milly was the heart of every celebration. Radiant, joyful, beautiful, and full of life. Her passions included travel, music, dance, paint-by-numbers, the beach, and rescuing pets. She was delighted in Sunday drives and weekend getaways, creating treasured memories with family and friends. Her laughter and warmth were gifts to all who knew her.
She is survived by her loving sister, Mercedes Diaz Miranda, and was a devoted aunt to Mercedes’ seven children: Mercedes Maria (deceased), Jose Antonio (Isabelle), Paloma Maria, Cristina Maria, Javier Alejandro (Arlene), Mary Ann, and Maria Elena (Albert). Her great-nieces and nephews: Joseph Anthony, Jennifer Marie (David), Meagan Bonnie (William Joseph), Katherine Mary, Hope Maria, Marina de las Mercedes, Hanna Maria, great-grand nephew and niece Andrew Oliver and Miranda Mei. She is also survived by her cousins, Pedro Garrido Cuervo (Delia) and Rubi Cuervo Villar, as well as extended family and friends.
Milly passed peacefully on the morning of December 31, 2025, at The Palace Renaissance of Kendall, after a long and courageous journey with Alzheimer’s. The love and exceptional care that she received for over five years is something that her family will be eternally grateful to the administration, staff, nurses, and CNA's.
Those wishing to pay respects may join the family on January 8th, 2026, at 1:00 PM for a Holy Funeral Mass at St. Raymond Catholic Church, 3475 SW 17th Street, Miami, Florida 33145. Committal Services will follow the Mass at Caballero Woodlawn Cemetery, 3260 SW 8th Street, Miami, Florida 33135, at 2:30 PM.
Milly’s kindness, generosity, and zest for life will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved her. Her spirit will continue to inspire joy, resilience, and love in generations to come.
