Cousins are different beautiful flowers that come from the same garden.” On Monday morning, May 27, 2024, I was awakened by the news of the loss of one of my beautiful flowers. My cousin, Michael Vega, succumbed to cancer and went to rest in eternal peace. Mike was a person who exuded good energy and always found a way to make you laugh and was always the life of the party. He loved his family immensely. In one of my last conversations with him, I asked how he was feeling, and he said, “I’m doing great, I’m beating this thing again, don’t worry.” So, I didn’t worry. I honestly thought he had this, and maybe he did too. But God had a different plan. I will miss his surprise text messages and calls, which I would get when I least expected. We last talked about what we called the Michael Vega Show, which featured his funny dance moves like the shopping cart or the sprinkler, which I’m sure some of you are familiar with. He was planning to remake his show so that when I went down to Miami, he would be ready. Rest in peace, my sweet brother. You will be forever missed by all those who knew and loved you!
