MICHAEL WAYNE LAMPHEAR's Obituary

Michael Wayne, “Capt. Mike”, 68, of Miami, FL, died on Thursday, May 22, 2014. He was born on Oct. 27, 1945 in Miami. He was predeceased by his parents, G.M. (Gus) Lamphear and E. Catherine (Kitty) McCready Lamphear and beloved pets. He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Karlinne Wulf, of Miami; son, Michael C. Lamphear (Pam) of Cummings, GA; father-in-law, Karleton B. Wulf (Marta); sister-in-law, Debbi (Ken Clark) of TN and nephew, Ken ‘KC’ Clark of NYC and many friends. He was a 3rd generation Miamian. He was a proud member of the MHS class of ’63 and attended UM. He was a school teacher and Florida Park Service ranger before finding his true calling as a Florida Marine Patrol (FMP) officer reaching the position of Captain. He retired as deputy district commander for District 6, covering Broward, Miami-Dade and Monroe counties. He often served as the “voice of the FMP”, most notably during the ValuJet crash and the Gloria Estefan boating incident. A Memorial Mass will be held on June 7, 2014, at 3:00pm at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, 14260 Old Cutler Road, Miami, FL. A reception will follow. Burial will be private.
