We met Michael and Marissa only 8 months ago, but it feels like we have known them forever. We shared beautiful sunsets every day as our homes are adjacent, and although we did not see each other often, we felt their presence. It was reassuring to know they were such a caring couple, always ready to help. I loved coming back home from work and watching Mike washing his boat after a nice fishing day. I was always impressed to his attention to detail, his handyman capabilities and his good humor, even when things got rough, like having to cancel a trip so long cherished because of Marissa’s accident, or his eye going red for some medical condition. The Saturday before he left us, we spent time together because he was helping me fix my lawn mower. I was impressed he asked me to leave it at his garage for him to work on it after he came back from lunch with Marissa and his mother. It was a great triumphant moment when he walked in that night announcing he had found the problem and corrected it. Through the months, he helped me out with my air conditioning, exterior lights, a tape on a fire scare we had and many other small details. Always with a smile. Always with a good story to share. Always selflessly, putting the others first. That is the kind of man he was. I did consider him my friend and I am very sorry he is gone. I believe he left us in a good way, doing what he liked, enjoying with his friends, leaving Marissa in a solid position, leaving good memories for us all. I only wish when my time comes I can emulate him and I will cherish his example and his memory. I know he is watching us from above, and now when I watch the sunsets, I will also think of him. Rest in peace Michael. Thanks for sharing a bit of your life with us.

My best memories as a teenager and early adult were spent with my good friend Mike. From long bicycle rides on our 10 speed bikes to the then "Mid-Way" Mall to the the times spent at Venetian Pool just having conversation in general about what our futures held for us---what great memories I will always cherish of my dear friend.
Thank you, Mike for being the great friend you were to me and for the years and years of great fun we had.
