MERLE STRAHL's Obituary
Strahl, Merle V., a resident of Coral Gables since 1950, left this world in God’s care on
April 13, 2021. She was 99 years old. Born on May 22, 1921, in Bark River, Michigan, the daughter of Henry Cadieux and Helen Hebert. She spent her youth in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. Merle met and married Gerald E. Strahl (deceased) from Milwaukee, WI, in 1941. They were married for 72 years. Merle studied business and was very instrumental in their own property developments in Coral Gables, Islamorada and maintained a residence in Highlands, North Carolina. Merle also successfully managed the Burdine’s Beauty Salon in Dadeland for several years. She and her husband enjoyed cruising the Florida Keys and Bahamas on their yacht, Merger. They were former members of the Key Biscayne Yacht Club, Coral Gables Country Club and Dinner Key Cruising Club.
Merle has been an angel to all who have been blessed to know her. With a very tender heart and generous soul, she lived her life. Merle was very hard-working and dedicated to family. Her loving and dedicated family, friends, wonderful home care nurses, and God’s blessing, enabled Merle to live many comfortable years.
Merle is survived by her sister, Anna Mae Walsh, niece Marianne Walsh Elmore, her husband Steve Elmore and their son Sean Elmore. She was predeceased by her son Tommy and husband Gerald. The family will hold a private memorial service.
