MAVINE WAITS O'DONNELL's Obituary
O’DONNELL, Mavine, 84 left us to be with our Lord on October 29, 2016. Mavine was born to Travis Taxine Waits and Della Ann Bowmen in Lawrence County, Alabama. Her musical gifts allowed her many accolades, including the endearing title of “Alabama’s Little Red Rose” as she was known for her vocal prowess on the evening radio as a child. As a volunteer in the military stationed in Birmingham, AL, she met the love of her life and soon to be husband Robert O’Donnell.
Bob and Mavine married on February 2, 1957 and were joined as one for 59 years. Mavine was preceded to our Lord’s Kingdom by her husband Robert in January and her brother Ennis last November.
Mavine was a loving wife, mother, sister, friend, teacher, counselor, grandmother, and sister in Christ. She is survived by her three children, Michael (wife Barbara Morello), Kevin, and Kathleen (husband Keith Newcomb), and nine grandchildren Shannon, Kevin, Kristen, Kelli, Kyle, Chris, Kaitlin, Derek, and Kaleigh.
A visitation will be held Tuesday, November 1st at Van Orsdel Funeral Home in Kendall. Viewing will be from 9:30 AM to 11:15 AM with a brief service in the chapel before taking her to the final resting place at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Cemetery.
