Matthew Ahart's Obituary
Matthew David Ahart, 47, of Miami, Florida passed away on Saturday, September 17th 2022 after a months long struggle with plasma cell leukemia.
Born to Charles and Annette Ahart on March 4th, 1975, in Buffalo, N.Y. He was a sweet, smart, mischievous young boy who grew into a brilliant, talented, hard-working man. He is survived by his adoring wife, Alejandra, his two young daughters, Juliette and Olivia, and his baby boy, Mateo. Also grieving his loss are his parents and nine siblings, Chuck, Richard, Michael, Melanie, Greg, Suellen, Chris, Kevin, and Danielle. We were so very privileged to be there with our dearest Matthew at the moment of his death to help send him home!
Matt graduated from George Mason University with a degree in Management Information Systems. In recent years, Matthew was tremendously valued as an Enterprise Account Manager with Sumo Logic. He threw so much of his energy into his career and often talked enthusiastically about his colleagues and work.
In his free time, Matthew dedicated himself to his precious family. Alejandra stated that there is no better husband, father, or best friend in creation. Matthew touched so many people with his generosity and love. Matthew had no filter and always spoke from his heart. Alejandra and Matt, married for ten years, enjoyed a deeply loving relationship. They carefully conferred together on every decision about their family and possessed an unshakeable bond. He spent countless hours playing with his young children. He loved showing the videos he’d taken as he entertained Juliette and Olivia with their dolls. He was a clever mimic and would create voices for each doll making the girls giggle hysterically. He adored his namesake, Mateo, and dearly wished for more time with him.
Matthew was also a self-taught gourmand. He had such patience and skill with so many delicious, complicated dishes and loved sharing what he learned about cooking with others. He possessed a passion for salsa dancing and would share this gift with anyone who shared the joy of his hobby.
Finally, and most importantly to Matt, was his complete and total devotion to the Lord. He honored our heavenly father in both personal prayer and his interactions with anyone he met. As he was battling his illness, I watched him as he called confidently on God the Father to strengthen him for what was to come. In recent years, Matthew felt inspired to share The Good News to many friends and family members causing spiritual conversions in those whose lives he touched. In the weeks prior to his death, he gifted a Bible to a young nurse who was persuaded by his impassioned descriptions of Christ’s love. He felt a strong affinity to the Apostles and felt, at the end, an urgency to do God’s
work. He accomplished this small but powerful ministry with Grace and deep holiness. We are reminded of dear Matt through the words of one of his heroes, the great Apostle, Paul. “...the time of my departure has come. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” 2 Timothy 4: 6-7
