Matias Castell Miquel's Obituary
Matias Castell Miquel was born in Mallorca, Spain on April 10, 1933 and died on March 6, 2021 shortly after being diagnosed with lung cancer. During the Spanish Civil and WWII, his family fled to Aruba in the Dutch West Indies when he was 6 years old. Living in the Lago Community of the Standard Oil Refinery, he was educated in the American Schools and after HS graduation attended LSU in Baton Rouge, LA. He then went to Embry Riddle in Miami, FL and entered the aviation field. He began his career with Pan American Airways in NYC and then onto Spain, Venezuela and finally back to Miami, FL where he retired after 33 years of service. He married Evee Marie Dupuis in New Orleans, LA on September 27, 1956, became a naturalized US Citizen and had four daughters. He maintained a home in Mallorca, Spain and often visited family members there. He is survived by two of his daughters, Mathilde and Antonia, his son-in-law, Anwer, his sister-in-law, Elise Hudson, his grandchildren, Josef, Jamila, Emily and Antonio, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral Services will be held on March 19, 2021 at 11 am at Holy Rosary/St. Richards Catholic Church, 7500 SW 152nd St. Village of Palmetto Bay, FL 33157
Interment will be at the Garden of Memories in New Orleans, LA . Date and time TBD
