Mary M. White's Obituary
White, Mary M., 88, of Coral Gables, FL, passed away at home April
24, 2009 after a long illness. Born Portland, OR, and raised in Klamath
Falls, OR and San Jose, CA, the daughter of Egbert and Ruth Mersereau.
Attended Whitman College and graduated Univ. of California; member Kappa
Kappa Gamma sorority. She married Robert Brooks White on Oct. 14, 1946. The
Family moved in 1964 from New York to Coral Gables. Mary lived an active
and full life. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren,
and great grandchildren. She and Bob traveled extensively. A member of
Royal Palm Tennis Club and Riviera Country Club, she enjoyed playing tennis,
golf and bridge. Predeceased by her brother Egbert and sister Charlotte and
daughter Mary Ellen. Survived by her husband of 62 years and three
siblings: Hiram, Elizabeth and Susanne Mersereau; two children: Robert Brooks White,
Jr. of Key West, and Martha "Marti" Hutchison of Wilmington, De; three
grandchildren and two great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, a
donation may be made in her name to a charity of your choice.
Visitation Tuesday April 28 6-7pm at Van Orsdel Coral Gables Funeral Chapel. Funeral Services at 10am Wednesday, April 29 in the Chapel of the
First United Methodist Church of Coral Gables, 536 Coral Way. Followed by
Burial at Miami Memorial Park.
