Mary Samergedes' Obituary
Samergedes, Mary, 90, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 17, 2014. Mary was born in Dublin, Ga., to the late Gus and Arete Carratt. She was preceded in death by husband Steven Samergedes and brothers Arthur and Harry Carratt. She is survived by her daughters Stephanie Samergedes of Fairfax, Va. and Joanne (Albert) De Nicola and grandchildren Christina and Steven De Nicola of Miami, Florida. Mary was a long time member of St. Sophia Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Miami, the Daughters of Penelope, Papanicolaou St.Sophia Cancer Unit and the St. Sophia Philoptochos Society. She retired after working many years from the Audio Visual Film Library for the Miami- Dade County Public Schools. Mary was a loving mother and grandmother who will truly be missed by all who knew her. She always had a smile on her face and a kind word for everyone. The visitation will be held on Monday, April 21st between 6-8 PM at the Van Orsdel Coral Gables Chapel at 4600 SW 8th Street 33134. The Trisagion Service will be at 7 PM. Funeral services will be held at St. Sophia Greek Orthodox Cathedral (2401 SW 3rd Avenue) at 10 AM on Tuesday April 22nd. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to St. Sophia Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 2401 SW 3rd Avenue, Miami, Florida 33129.
