Mary Luz Rigau's Obituary
It is with deep sadness that we announce the death of Mary Luz Rigau, who passed away on June 27, 2026 at the age of sixty-six after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born on June 30, 1959 in Cuba, Mary Luz lived a life defined by love, kindness, and devotion to her family and friends. She touched the lives of many through her compassion, generosity, unwavering strength, and impeccable gift giving.
She was a beloved wife, mother, sister, daughter, and friend whose greatest joy was spending time with those she loved, including her dog Truett. Whether she was helping others or caring for her family, she had an unmistakable gift for making people feel special.
Mary Luz is survived by her husband Carlos, her daughter Lauren, her son-in-law Jack and her mother and brother, Mimi and Pete. She was preceded in death by her father Amado, her mother-in-law Puchita, and her father-in-law Florencio.
Her family will forever cherish the memories of her laughter, wisdom, and unconditional love. Though she will be deeply missed, her legacy of love will live on in the hearts of everyone who knew her.
A funeral will be held on Thursday, the 2nd of July at Woodlawn Park North Cemetery at 11:00 AM.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the cancer research organization of their choice or blood be donated to a local blood bank in her memory.
She will be forever loved, forever remembered, and forever missed.
A poem written by Mary’s niece, Ashley, in her honor:
to Mary
spring passes by
as summer simmers in
all the places and faces I have been
moments amounting
to much more than a time
when finding peace within
the love I have to give
spiraling in and around,
a sound that is everlasting
energy that surrounds
is profound and protecting
an angelic melody to treasure
as you are one with the century
The family kindly asks that, if you are able, you honor Mary Luz’s memory by wearing one of her favorite colors—white, beige, or yellow— to the funeral. We see this simple gesture as a meaningful tribute to her light.
