Mary Margaret Murphy Platt, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, mother-in-law and grandmother-in-law, peacefully passed away in her sleep on Saturday, May 25, 2019.
Born in the Bronx, NY and raised by her loving parents John and Mary Murphy, Mary was a resident of Miami Beach, FL, for over 30 years. Mary is survived by her son, Bill Platt; her daughter, Nancy Wood (Tom Wood); grandson, Sean McHugh; granddaughter, Erin Payner (Lt. Col. Joe Payner) and great-granddaughter, Sienna Payner.
Mary will be remembered as a loving mother who made many sacrifices for her family. She was a devoted Catholic and parishioner and volunteer at St. Patrick Catholic Church for over 30 years. Mary was a fun-loving person and long-time, loyal Frank Sinatra fan.
There will be a viewing with family at Van Orsdel Midtown Miami Chapel, 3333 NE 2nd Avenue, Miami, FL 33137. Funeral Mass will be at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 3716 Garden Ave, Miami Beach, FL 33140. Interment at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Cemetery, 11411 NW 25th St, Doral, FL 33172 will immediately follow Mary's Funeral Mass at St. Patrick Church.
