Mary Nell Phillips' Obituary
Phillips, Mary Nell of Miami, Fl., passed away on May 24, 2012. She was born on July 13, 1929 in Lakeland, Fl., to John Lewis and Verdie Victoria Schoettle. She graduated from Miami Edison High School in 1947 and attended Florida State University. She was a member of Central Baptist Church in Miami, Fl. She was past president of the Miami Women’s Club and Miami Garden Club, Vice Chairperson for the City of Miami Beautification Committee, and a member of the Long Island Ocelot Club. She held a degree as a Master Gardener, Landscape Architect and an Interior Designer. She was an accomplished pianist and artist. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, B. Cubbedge Phillips, brother and sister-in law, Dr. H. Lewis and Charlotte Schoettle, brother in law and sister in law, Marion W. and Barbara Phillips, 5 children, Alicia, Carolina, Rebecca (Steve), Bartimus (Anita), and Marilyn, 11 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and many nephews and nieces.
The family will accept visitors from 6 to 8p.m., Thrs., May 31, 2012 at the VAN ORSDEL CORAL GABLES CHAPEL, 4600 SW 8th St., Coral Gables, Fl., 33134. Services and interment will be Sat. June 9 2012 at Strickland & Sons Funeral Home, Rincon, GA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to the Lottie Moon Missionaries.
