MARY EVELYN NOLAN's Obituary
NOLAN, Mary E. Williams, passed on June 22, 2015 after eighty nine years, joining her beloved husband, Colonel John Nolan. She leaves behind her daughter and son Anita and Daniel and her grandchildren, Allison, Casey and Summer. During her husband’s long military career she followed the flag from the sun-scorched outback of Australia to the chill of Cold War Germany. Mary began working for the Woman’s Cancer Association of the University of Miami soon after her mother’s death to cancer. From the cramped shelves of the Bargain Box where her life-long soulmate worked at her side, to such events as the Silver Lady Tea, Mary was a visionary. She showed her usual flair organizing the Second Time Around fashion show. Mary supported and organized Bazaars, auctions, Derby Days and countless fundraisers for the WCA for over thirty-five years. She served as President of the WCA and held many other offices. Just as cancer had killed her husband, parents and grandparents it struck Mary, who rallied and continued her volunteer work well into the month of her death. On spiked heels and her own sparkling eye patch, she continued to volunteer and to push herself to the last. Her family will never forget the kindness of Dr. Benhard Brijbag, Rosalba, and Nurse Michy. Services are pending at Arlington National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers Memorials may be made to the Bush Chapter of the Women’s Cancer Association of the University of Miami, 1350 West Flagler Street, Miami, FL, 33135
