MARY JANE KEITH's Obituary
On March 19, 2020, the first day of Spring and her daughter's birthday, Mary Jane Keith passed peacefully into the next chapter of her life.
Mary Jane, born in Rices Landing, Pennsylvania, was one of nine children. She was the daughter of Charles and Mary Swestyn.
In September, 1941, during World War II, she began working for the War Department in Washington, D.C. She moved to Miami in 1943, and was employed by Pan American World Airways in Pilot Training/Scheduling. It was at Pan Am that she met Kelvin, her husband of nearly 74 years. Later she was employed as a teller in the downtown Miami home office of First Federal Savings and Loan. During the years she was raising her three children, Scott, Sandra, & Mark, she was active at their schools and in the Parent Teacher's Association. At the top of her list of Priorities were her children, her husband and her home. She was a wonderful mother and a wonderful wife and homemaker.
After her three children completed their schooling, she was a Social Hostess at the Doral Country Club. She was a member of the Springs Sociables and the First Presbyterian Church of Miami Springs.
Mary Jane traveled extensively throughout the world, including crossing the Atlantic on Concorde and sailing on the maiden voyage of Queen Mary 2.
Mary Jane is survived by her husband Kelvin, son Scott, granddaughters Ashley and Tory, daughter-in-law Debra, sister Lil, and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Monday, March 23, 3pm - 5pm at Van Orsdel, Coral Gables, FL. Entombment at Woodlawn Park North, Miami, FL will follow private services.
