Mary Lou Bunger's Obituary
Mary Lou Bunger was born on May 14th, 1936 in Steubenville, Ohio to Carl and Florence James. She was a proud graduate of Steubenville High School and loyal Ohio State Buckeye fan.
For the first 21 years of her life she lived in Ohio before moving to Miami in 1957. She raised her three daughters until they were school aged and then worked at Miami Shores Medical Center for many years. She was a firm believer in women’s rights and the importance of education.
Her passions in life included art, fashion, travel, and family. One of the highlights of her life was living in Vero Beach adjacent to the ocean with her late husband, Dick Bunger. Mary Lou loved to socialize and was always frequently entertaining, just as she did for her 90th birthday this past May.
Mary Lou was preceded in death by her husband, Richard (Dick) E. Bunger, her daughter, Cheryl Honkonen, parents, Florence and Carl James; her siblings, Carl James Jr., Catherine Taylor, Charles (Duke) James, and Gladys Taylor; She is lovingly remembered by her daughters Candice Beckham and Tracy Honkonen; her grandchildren Will (Allison) Beckham, Woody Beckham, and Emily (Matthew) Beckham-Vohun; 2 great-grandchildren Mila Beckham and Grace Beckham; beloved nieces Mary Kay Power and Tiffany (Tony) Bell as well as additional relatives and lifelong friends. We are grateful to all of her friends who helped Mary Lou during her later stages and kept her spirits high until her final days. While we will deeply miss her presence, we are forever grateful for the love, wisdom, and memories.
Mary Lou's legacy lives on in the family she cherished, the friendships she nurtured, and the countless lives she touched. She is forever loved.
