Marjorie Chace Jewett's Obituary
Marjorie Ruth Chace Jewitt (O’Connell) 90, of Miami, Florida, passed on to her eternal reward, August 1, 2019.
Marjorie is survived by her three children: Peter Clarke, Holly Anne and Leslie Anne; her15 grandchildren: Michael, Alexandra, Emily, Stephanie, Maggie, Caroline; Nicole, Andrea, Jennifer, Michael, Katherine, Hollister; Josh, Rose and Romeo; her 24 great-grandchildren: Chloe, Quinn , Sophia, Lola, Natalie, Oliver, Jack; London, Fiona, Miles, Vivianne, Clea, Ramona, Liatres, Aravelle, Amaris, Atticus, Orlo, Roman; Catherine, Casey, Christian, Cassidy, Brian; Ethan and Sawer; and her 2 great-great-grandchildren: Ava and Austin.
She was born in Holyoke, MA, September 5, 1928. She married Hollister Clarke Chace in 1948, and they had three children. In 1954, her husband Hollister was transferred to work in Lima, Peru where he and his family lived for 12 years. Marge and Hollister loved their life in Peru and built a community of close friends that lasted a lifetime. In 1966, Hollister passed away, and Marge moved back to the US and settled down in Miami, Florida with her three teenage children.
In Miami she met her husband and companion of 45 years, John Jewett. Marjorie was an amazing cook and was known for her key lime pie and calamandarin cake. She enjoyed interior design, playing tennis, gardening, and traveling. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, a source of great pride and joy. She was also known for her generosity, compassionate heart and was greatly loved by family, friends and neighbors. She was an animal lover and always took in homeless cats that wandered into her life, faithfully donating to the Humane Society.
A Memorial Service will be held at the chapel of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church at 11 AM on Monday, August 5, 2019. Following the service, there will be a celebration of her life at her residence. In lieu of flowers, the family requests any donations be made to the Humane Society. www.humanesociety.org
