MARIE ANTOINETTE COLIMON's Obituary
Eulogy
We have come together to celebrate the life of Marie Antionette Colimon. She was known by
loved ones as Ti Crab and most notably as “Mamietoine”.
Mamietoine was born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti on July 2nd, 1934. She was the third eldest child to
Marc Jean Antoine Colimon and Elvire Dorce. Being one of 12 children, Mamietoine formed an
intimate and unbreakable bond with all of her siblings ---- Janine, Bernadet, Rosette , Marc,
Berthony, Marlene, Alvire, Jean, Monique, Raymond, O’nell, Bertha and Carlo. Mamietoines love
for travel was one of the trademarks of her life. After she married and became a mother she
moved to Congo where she spent many years. In 1976, she moved to the United States, living in
Boston, and later relocating to Miami where she resided for the remainder of her life.
Mamietoine was blessed with three loving children: Geneva, Claude and Richard; Ten
Grandchildren: Georgia, Farrah, Clifford, Rachel, Cassandra, Sean, Marjorie, Marlon, Ariana,
Aaliyah; Followed by Two Great-Grandchildren Rhyvon and Christopher-Ares. As well as her 4
legged companion Ginger.
Mamietoine was a woman of God. She was a devout Seventh-Day Adventist who showed her love
for God by her unwavering faithfulness. Mamietoine wore many hats. Besides being a devout
Christian and mother, she was an amazing hairstylist which allowed her to foster her ability to
make anyone and everyone feel beautiful. She had the golden touch. Whether it was hair or a
plant, anything she touched grew in abundance! Her beauty, style and vivacious personality
dazzled many making her quite unforgettable. She would make everyone laugh shocking them
with her boldness and quick tongue.
One of Mamietoines most remarkable traits was the way she empathized with those in need. She
embodied generosity similar to Robin hood stealing from the rich and giving to the poor.
Unfortunately, her kids and grandchildren were victims often mistaken as the rich. For the last 18
years of her life she was battling illness and not once did she ever complain or have self pity. She
was committed to fully trusting God and wholeheartedly appreciated the endless care and
support from her eldest daughter Geneva. A piece of her was left in each of her children- Geneva
was given her strength, Claude was given her courage and Richard was given her heart.
Mamietoine peacefully passed away at the age of 83, on August 11th, 2017, surrounded by love.
She will be reunited in heaven with her late siblings: Rosette, Berthony, Jean and Marlene, and
countless friends – the most beautiful ending to her story.
