MARIAN SLOAN DAVANT's Obituary
Marian Elizabeth Sloan Davant was born in Jacksonville, FL on October 28 th , 1920. She married
Fredric Davant on April 27 th , 1941, and was married to him for 72 years, when he passed away
in 2013. We sent her off to heaven on Sunday, November 6th. She was the Queen of our
family, the last of the great generation.
She is preceded in death by Fred as well as her sons, Buzz and Davis, and daughter in law,
Vickie. She is survived by her sons, Stuart (Teresa) Norman (Teri) and her daughter, Sloan (Ron),
Her grandchildren, Charlie (Rachel), DJ (Franci), Travis, Kevin (Dilynn) and Kimberly (Gui) and
Her Great Grandchildren, Lincoln, Ivy, Graham, Noah, Liam, Zekiah, Max, and Vivian.
She and Fred spent years sailing in the Bahamas and after they sold the boat still went to
Georgetown every spring! And in the fall, they would spend time in the Blue Ridge mountains.
She loved sailing, shelling, beaches, knitting, and most of all, she loved her family! She and Fred
were founding members at Coral Reef Yacht Club where they kept the Sea Cloud. She loved it
there joining in Ladies Sail, Ladies Day, and Champagne Guild.
She might have only been 5’ but she had a gigantic heart. She was loved by everyone who met
her. She was always ready with a hug and had an infectious smile. She made you feel as
though you’d known her forever. If you were lucky enough to have known her, you will have
her in your heart forever because she always endeared herself to everyone. We will miss you
forever, but we know you are dancing in the streets of gold with Fred to Mac the Knife!
Her funeral will be held at Van Orsdel at 4600 SW 8 th Street on Monday, November 14 th at 1:00
PM followed by interment at Miami Memorial Park at 6200 SW 77th Avenue.
In lieu of flowers, please send flowers, a card, candy, or gift to someone you love and tell them
how much you love them!
