MARIA ELENA MORRIS's Obituary
Maria Elena Morris, of Miami FL, went to Heaven on April 19th, 2016.
“Nena” as her family and friends called her, was born on November 5, 1921 in Santa Ana, El Salvador and was the 11th child of Manuel I. Valiente and Ana R. de Valiente. In 1951 Maria Elena moved her residence to Miami Springs where she subsequently was charmed and married to James F. Morris on November 5, 1958. Maria Elena was the sparkle in his eyes and now they are joined in Heaven.
Maria Elena was a strong advocate for Special Needs since the late 50’s– in the role of a parent she was part of an era of Hope Center (later acquired by United Cerebral Palsy of Miami). Let’s say she was “a mover and a shaker” for quality care and individual development where “dignity and love” was priority. “Where there is Love, there is Hope!”
Maria Elena is survived by her son James M. Morris, her daughter Anna Elsie Morris-Perez, and her grandson Peter Daniel Perez Jr.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 9th at 11:00 a.m. - St. Augustine Catholic Church, 1400 Miller Road, Coral Gables, Florida 33146 (305-661-1648).
Followed by burial service at 12:30 pm: Lady of Mercy Catholic Cemetery, 11411 NW 25th St., Doral, FL 33172- (305-918-1702)
Following Maria Elena’s wishes: In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can go directly for benefit of James M. Morris payable directly to his name or in gift cards. His sister Anna Elsie will manage.
