Maria Angeles Cosio's Obituary
Maria Angeles Cosio, 76, of Miami, passed away on January 18, 2023 following a short illness.
The firstborn child of Carlos and Delia Rodriguez, Maria was born in Havana, Cuba on March 21, 1946. Maria’s youth was spent in Cuba until early 1962, when she and her brother Carlos were sent to the United States by their parents via Operation Pedro Pan. Maria went on to build a life that connected her with both Miami, FL and Boston, MA.
Maria was a dutiful wife for more than 53 years to Enrique Cosio, Jr. and a loving mother to her only child, Miguel (Mike). Mike and his family, including his wife, Traci, who she loved like a daughter, were her pride and joy and being “Lita” to her two granddaughters was one of her greatest treasures. Maria loved making memories with her family above all else, whether through traveling, taking in a show or sharing jokes over a bowl of ice cream. She will be remembered and dearly missed.
Maria is survived by her husband, Enrique Cosio, Jr. of Miami; son Mike (Traci) and granddaughters, Delia and Isla of Manassas, VA; brother, Carlos (Adelaida) Rodriguez of Milton, MA; and special cousin Elena (Bill) Williams of Pinecrest, FL.
A funeral mass honoring her life will be held at noon on Friday, March 10, 2023 at Prince-of-Peace Catholic Church, 12800 NW 6th St, Miami, FL 33182.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that all memorials be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, an organization whose work Maria supported.
