Monserrate Margo Dávila Rivera, lovingly known as Margo, passed away peacefully on May 10, 2025, at the age of 90. A devoted woman of faith, a compassionate nurse, and the heart of her family, she leaves behind a legacy of love, service, and strength.
Born in Santurce, Puerto Rico on April 29, 1935, Margo was deeply proud of her heritage. She was often found in the kitchen preparing cherished Puerto Rican dishes like piñón and arroz con habichuelas. Her warmth radiated through every meal she shared and every life she touched. She dedicated most of her life to caring for others as a Registered Nurse – a calling she truly treasured and one that beautifully reflected her generous, nurturing heart.
Margo had an unwavering faith in God and was deeply involved in her church community, where she found both spiritual support and joy. Her love for worship and prayer guided her throughout her life, especially during challenging times.
She is survived by her two daughters, Lisa (Stephen) Finley of Salem, Ohio and Kim (Kevin) Jones of Conroe, Texas; six grandchildren Heather, Stephen, Krystal, Megan, Erin and Shannon; and seven great-grandchildren Jaedon, Tatum, Kyah, Wade, BayLee, Walker and Otto; all of whom brought her immense joy and pride. Also grieving her passing are her beloved sisters, a wide circle of extended family, and faithful friends whose lives were forever touched by her gentle spirit, heartfelt prayers, and the quiet strength of her love. She was a blessing to many, and her light continues to shine through those she held dear.
Margo is now reunited with her beloved husband of 50 years, John Rivera, who preceded her in death in 2006. She will be laid to rest beside him in Miami – a place they called home, where their faith blossomed, their love endured, and their legacy continues to be cherished.
Margo’s spirit lives on in the countless lives she touched through her compassion, faith, and dedication. Her legacy lives on in the care she gave, the service she offered, and the love she shared so generously.
Aunque ya no está con nosotros, su amor permanece para siempre. (Though she is no longer with us, her love remains forever.)
May we find peace in knowing that Margo now rests in the eternal embrace of her Savior.
May her life of love, faith, and service continue to inspire all who knew her.
And may the God of all comfort surround us with grace, reminding us that though she is no longer with us in body, her spirit lives on – in our hearts, in our memories, and in every act of kindness we carry forward in her name.
