Diane Hicks
I have so many wonderful memories of Peg. She and I were once lying fully clothed on the sand in Key Biscayne, talking about life and family, near the lighthouse. She loved the ocean! She shared with me often her deep love of family, and when she sent or received cards, or was so proud of accomplishments.
I remember her riding her bicycle around Coral Gables and how much she loved books! She was kind but firm. A little power house! She told us she chose 13, as the age she envisioned herself to be, since that was when she got her bicycle and found freedom!
Peg taught us all about where to place our priorities in life. She often kept things deep inside her, but when she spoke, I listened and learned.
I will cherish all the photos of us all having such fun, and there are many!
I remember watching fireworks on the 4th of July in Coral Gables, celebrating her car "Dixie's" birthday at various restaurants, flying kites at South Pointe, blowing the bubbles she had brought into the restaurant! They were everywhere! Oh, and on one of her birthdays, when we were celebrating at Rusty Pelican on Key Biscayne after Florida banned smoking in restaurants, she lit up a flavored cigar! When the server came over about it, Jack took the blame for her!
What a delightful sense of humor she had. No matter how much time went by, when we spoke, it was as though only a day had passed.
Peg, I know you are in good company where you are now. I will truly miss you and your spirit. Sing with the Angels! God bless you always, and keep you close to him dear friend!
Love Always,
Diane
