MARGARET LUISE GAUB's Obituary
Margaret Luise Gaub (11/11/1932 - 1/11/2024)
Gaub, Margaret Louise “Peggy” died after a minor procedure at Baptist Hospital. She was predeceased by her husband, Walter Lampl, Jr., and her parents, Dr. William Henry Gaub, Jr., and Margaret ( née Lattell). She is survived by her cousins, Marian L. Hasty (Tim) and Douglas C. Beardmore (Kathy Kodl); and, her step-daughter, Louise Lampl and many longtime friends. Because Peggy’s father was in the military, she traveled the globe and was fond of traveling. She was born in Guatemala and lived in many places as a child, including Japan where she developed a yen for the orient. Her most recent trip to the orient was to Myanmar (Burma) when she was 80. She attended the University of Washington Medical School and was one of only 3 female graduates in the class of 1960. After her Residency at Jackson Memorial Hospital, she began her career as a Pediatric Anesthesiologist at Variety Children’s Hospital (now, Nicklaus Children’s Hospital) where she cared for many young Cuban refugees in the early 1960s. Peggy was always one to help others with her keen analytic ability regarding medical diagnosis. Anytime she could “diagnose” someone’s condition so that it could be caught early, she would. After retirement, she enjoyed socializing with friends and family; and, most recently, learning to play bridge. Her memorial service will be at 3:00 PM at Van Orsdel Coral Gables Chapel, 4600 SW 8th Street, Coral Gables, FL 33134 on January 27th with a Celebration of Life event following at 4 PM at the Riviera Country Club.
