I was honored to be a part of this dear family for over 40 years. I love Aunt Mae and will miss our talks and her smile. They were some of my parents dearest friends.
Mae was a very special lady, and I will always remember her fondly. She was an outstanding teacher--as a business teacher, she always kept up with the technological changes that were a part of our curriculum; she was always one of the first teachers to sign up for workshops; as a department head, she kept her department running smoothly and was always there to lend support to her teachers; and as a sponsor of our youth organization, FBLA, she gave the students another window to allow them to excel. Mae will always be remembered fondly by all those who were fortunate to have been touched by her kindness and love. I want to share a particular gesture she had for me. I graduated from Coral Park Sr. before she started teaching there but when I became the Instructional Supervisor for the Business Department, she gave me a plaque in the name of the school in recognition of my success. Not only that, but the name that appeared on the plaque was one that for some reason I had never seen before; my full name was inscribed----Diamela Maria Quintanilla Oakley--Wow!
May she rest in peace and may her family and friends always keep her memory alive!
Love,
Dee Oakley (Retired, BTE Instructional Supervisor)
