LYDIA SKAGGS CLARK's Obituary
CLARK, Lydia S., member of one of Miami’s Pioneer Families, has died at the age of 76. She is survived by her brother Glen O. Skaggs, Jr. (Joan) of Louisville, KY; an aunt, Mary W. Milam of Miami; first cousins, Marcia Hensinki (Ed), Beverly Singelton (Earl), Marcus Milam III, Mary Pat Rodgers (Danny); her “adopted” family, Butch and Nell Green and their children; her “lifelong friend,” Nancy Denton (Bonnel); and many other good friends. She is predeceased by her husband Robert W. Clark and her parents Dr. Glen O. and Alpha Railey Skaggs. She graduated from Miami Senior High School and from the University of Miami where she was active in the Chi Omega sorority. She worked as a travel agent in the Coconut Grove Travel agency and as an administrative assistant at Central Baptist Church where she very active. She served on the Aids Committee at St. Stephan’s Episcopal Church in Coconut Grove; in the prison ministry at the Federal Detention Center; and in the Guild at the Museum of Science. She was interested in cooking, shopping, reading, travel, yoga and the Miami Heat. There will be a memorial gathering at Van Orsdel Funeral Chapel, 4800 SW 8th Street, Coral Gables, FL on Wednesday, November 6, 2013 from 1:00p.m. to 2:00 p.m., followed by a service at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please send your donation in memory of Lydia S.
