My Mom was very close to cousin Lucy for many years. When Lucy married our first cousin Sal, they honeymooned at my Mom and Dad’s home in Florida. This was before me and my twin Joanie were born. My Mom later asked Lucy and Sal to be our Godparents. Even though they were actually our cousins, we always called them “Aunt” and “Uncle”. Aunt Lucy was always such a positive influence for both of us and our brothers Ricky and Michael, and later to Joanie’s children Chelsea and Tripp. She helped Joanie get through so much with our Mom in later years, too. Joanie loved spending time with all of Aunt Lucy’s friends too; Elaine, Celeste & Tony, and after our Mom passed she was there for us any time we needed to talk. For me, she was more than an Aunt, she was a dear friend I could call to talk to about anything and would always leave me with a thoughtful approach to the challenges in life. I loved how she could be so fun and feisty too, but kind at the same time. Time at her house always felt like home, and it would take hours to say goodbye when it was time to leave. She instantly loved my husband Steve when she met him, calling him “A piece of bread”, one of the highest Italian Aunt compliments. We will miss her dearly and love her forever. Rest in peace dearest Aunt Lucy, we love you dearly. 💕 Give our Mom, Dad, Ricky and Michael hugs in heaven and I hope you and Uncle Sal are dancing to your heart’s content up there with the rest of the family! Peggy & Joanie (and both of our Steve’s).
