Lucille Soleo's Obituary
Lucille Dorothy Soleo, age 93, of Miami, Florida, died peacefully with her family at her side on Friday, January 6, 2023 due to natural causes. She was born on August 22, 1929 to Rosina Terranova and Pietro DeSantis in North Bergen, New Jersey, where she enjoyed a loving, family-filled upbringing as one of six siblings.
After graduating from Union Hill High School in 1947, she met the love of her life, Edward Soleo, on a blind date. They were married on October 10, 1948, soon welcomed their children Patricia (1949) and John (1952), and went on to enjoy 70 years of marriage. Over the years, she worked as an embroiderer in North Bergen, and she worked for New Jersey Bell Telephone Company. After relocating with her family to South Florida in 1977, she dedicated her time and talents to helping with a family-owned restaurant business for the next 25 years.
Lucille was affectionately known to her family as Granny, and in her free time, she enjoyed gourmet cooking, breadmaking, knitting, crocheting, and traveling, but most of all being surrounded by family and friends. She and her husband were also members of Elks Lodge #948, and the Italian Sons and Daughters of America Lodge #276.
Lucille was preceded in death by her beloved parents, her husband, and her siblings Alexander, Josephine, Anthony, Julius, and Rosina. She is survived by her children and her devoted son-in-law John Zambolla; her grandchildren Jennifer, Jay, and Jessica, and their spouses; and her great-grandchildren Alisa, Sabrina, Nicholas, Andrew, Sophia, and Giuliana.
Visitation will be from 5:00-9:00 p.m. on Monday, January 16 at the Van Orsdel Funeral Chapel in Kendall, followed by a mass at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 17 at Saint John Neumann Catholic Church. Lucille’s family is comforted by the knowledge that she is finally at peace and reunited with her loving husband.
