LUCILLE B. PHILIPP's Obituary
Mrs. Lucille B. Philipp, age 87, passed away peacefully on March 4, 2018 in her home surrounded by her family in Miami, FL.
Lucille “Lu” was born June 1, 1930 and grew up in the coal mining town of Jenkins, KY in Bentley Hallow with her family: Alex Bentley, father; Eva Bentley, mother; Ann Garay, sister; Cecil Bentley, brother; Kenneth Bentley, brother. In the 1950’s Lu moved to Florida where she later became a successful high-end clothing and fashion manager as well as entrepreneur. Then in the summer of 1963, Lu met the love of her life and within 3 months she married William “Bill” Philipp October 19, 1963 spending 54 years of marriage together in Miami. In 1966 Lu gave birth to her first-born David and in 1971 her second child, a daughter, Luanne. Lu’s children were her world until three grandsons were born and completed the family circle.
Lu was the matriarch of the family and devoted herself to her husband, children, and her church. Lu along with Bill become active members of Gateway Baptist Church singing in the choir and facilitating youth group activities with her children. The bonds she created spanned all ages of the church from the Seniors to the Youth, as well as the Children; these created and facilitated lifelong friendships over the past nearly 40 years.
Lu is survived by her husband, William Philipp; son, David Philipp; daughter, Luanne Parker; and her grandsons Dustin Philipp, Michael and Matthew Nelson.
A funeral is scheduled for March 8th at Van Orsdel Kendall with visitation from 5-7 pm followed by a service. Lu will be laid to rest in the Philipp Estate in Casselberry, FL at All Faiths Memorial Park with a service to be announced.
