LILLIAN S CONESA's Obituary
Lillian Susana Conesa, age 77, died in Miami, Florida, on Saturday, August 30, 2014.
Born August 10, 1937, in NYC, Lillian moved with her family to Puerto Rico and relocated to Miami in 1955. After graduating from Marymount Manhattan, she worked at the Miami library while attending Florida State University where she received a Masters in Library Science. Lillian was the first Bookmobile manager in Miami. She worked as a librarian in the Miami-Dade Public Library system until her retirement more than 30 years later. Lillian was an avid reader and an active member of her community. A longtime member of St. Dominic’s Catholic Church, she sang in the choir and volunteered with parish administration. She was also a frequent volunteer with the Miami-Dade County Historical Society and the Fairchild Tropical Botanical Garden, and regularly supported a variety of charities close to her heart. "Lian" was a devoted daughter, sister and aunt. She enjoyed sharing her knowledge of pottery, native plants, and butterflies. Lian loved animals and was comforted by her pets. She was predeceased by her parents, H.B. Conesa and Lillian Doty, and her brothers, Bert and Bill. She leaves behind her sisters, Jo and Betsy, and 8 nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Monday, September 8, 2014 at St. Dominic’s Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests a memorial gift to the charity of your choice.
