Leonard P. Fong Yee's Obituary
Leonard “Lennie” Fong Yee passed away peacefully at home in Miami, Florida, on October 11, 2025, at the age of 92.
Lennie was born in Jamaica to the late William Fong Yee and Edna McKay. Though he left Jamaica in 1978 to make a new life in Florida, Lennie always yearned to return permanently to his homeland. He did not do so in life, but his ashes will be taken to join his late wife, Eula, at Sts. Peter and Paul Columbarium in St. Andrew, Jamaica. He will be remembered for his infectious laugh, generosity, and love of family.
Lennie is survived by his children, Gary, Andrea, Cornel (Bridgette), Karen (Bob), Michelle Whelan (Michael), Debra Van De Warker (John), and Kisha; his siblings, Granville Fong Yee (Moree), Sylvia Chin Hing, Winsome Lazarus, Adele (Dave), and William Fong Yee (Bridget); and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife, Daphne; second wife, Eula; and siblings Edmond, Leopold, and Linnie.
A memorial service will be held in Jamaica at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Lennie’s memory to St. Timothy’s Catholic Church in Miami, FL.
