LEON HENRY MIKESELL's Obituary
MIKESELL,
Leon Henry was born to Samuel and Hazel in Steubenville, Ohio. When the Depression hit he and his family moved to his grandparents farm to survive. There he learned the value of hard work and self-sufficiency taking part in the farming, milking cows and bartering what you produced for whatever else you needed. He also fell in love with his pony “Billy” whom he remembered fondly to the end of his days. He graduated in 1945 and immediately volunteered in the Navy and was sent to the South Pacific. Upon discharge he moved to Miami and went to work for Southern Bell Telephone Company where he rose to account manager in marketing. He was posted at Homestead Air Force Base during the Cuban missile crisis and at Cape Canaveral for several years on telecommunications for the space flights. He retired from the telephone company after 35 years and worked for the local produce market in Homestead and enjoyed hunting and camping. He moved to West Palm Beach in 2012. Leon was father to Barbara, Larry and Linda, six grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Memorial Service 1:30 pm Saturday January 19th at VAN ORSDEL CORAL GABLES CHAPEL.
