Laura Hamilton Sawyer's Obituary
Sawyer, Laura "Lee" Hamilton - was born on January 6, 1944, and died
peacefully on June, 9, 2009, in her native Miami, Florida. The oldest
of three girls born to Conway and Anna Laurie Hamilton, Lee was a
sensitive and kind person even as a child. While attending University
of Miami's School of Business she met her future husband, James Alan
Sawyer. Lee loved her job as a school teacher where she taught math
to the forgotten children in some of Miami's most blighted areas. Most
importantly, Lee was a wonderful and caring mother to her two children,
Laura and Jimmy. Shortly after her husband's death, Lee began
experiencing health problems. After 15 years of overcoming
insurmountable odds she succumbed to her illnesses and passed away
peacefully surrounded by family and friends.
Lee is survived by
her loving daughter and son, Laura Candace Broder (Seth) and James
"Jimmy" Alan Sawyer, Jr. Her sisters Cynthia Hamilton Palmer (Mark)
and Amanda Hamilton Myers (Edwin); her nephew, Christopher Hamilton
Myers and her longtime nurse and companion, Chantal Colimon. In lieu
of flowers please send donations to the American Stroke Association
(www.strokeassociation.org - Lee Sawyer memorial page) or University of
Miami School Of Business, James A. Sawyer Memorial Scholarship Fund.
Funeral services will be held at 11 am, Friday, Jun 19, 2009, at Saint
Louis Catholic Church at 7270 SW 120th Street, Pinecrest, FL 33156
